I did not know Gary Beckworth, but do remember his father. I attended White Oak Schools & went to Washington, D.C. with the band in 1961. Lindley Beckworth led a tour for our band group through the Capitol & Senate in 1961. I shall never forget this memory as long as I live! His family, including Gary, were well known throughout the East Texas, Gregg County Community as outstanding citizens! My prayers are with the Gary Beckworth family at this time of loss!
What a colorful soul he was. I treasure memories of the relationship that my Holcomb/Cooper family had with the Beckworths and I will always, ALWAYS smile when I think of Gary. I worked with he and Carter in their law office for a little while in the 80's-- where there was never a dull moment. He was brilliant, quirky and eccentric -- and I adored him. Today I celebrate Gary Beckworth and the impression he made upon me and those fortunate enough to have experienced his energy. Sending love to Eloise, Linda, John, Martha and the others in that great big Beckworth family.
Gary was one of the most interesting guys I know. We had lots of fun in the "old" days. He even had a phone in his car in the early 70's and I was fascinated. He, Rudy Bresie, and I went to Earnest's in Shreveport on what we called a "business" meeting which it was not, but we did create Triple B which purchased rather unsightly homes, and we would fixem up a bit and then flip them....way before our times. But we had a blast. I thank Gary for some wonderful times and pass my condolences to his beautiful wife Martha. Bill Bussey
