Gail Maxine Barber Carlton's Obituary
Gail Maxine Barber Carlton, 96, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2020. Gail was born on April 10, 1923 in Elko, Nevada to the late Emery & Adeline Barber. She was raised in Washoe Valley with her brothers, Frank Barber of Aubury, California and Dr. Eugene John Barber of Kingston, Tennessee, who both preceded her in death. Gail graduated from Reno Business College and was a secretary before marrying Willis P. Carlton of Denton, Texas on October 23, 1946. Gail and Willis were married for 62 years until his passing on December 31, 2008. They raised one son, Steve Carlton, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2012. She is survived by seven granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Throughout the years, Gail delighted in spending time with her best friend, Connie Bottoms and her children, along with Gail's granddaughters. She was an excellent baker and always had delicious desserts for all to enjoy. Gail was a longtime member at Alpine Church of Christ. Her whit and tenacity allowed her to live life to the fullest. She was a very caring person who never complained and always gave hope and inspiration to others.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Comfort Keepers Home Care and particularly Gail's favorite caregivers: Neva Garcia, Cornelia Klaba, Sandra Palmer, and Helen Bailey. Services will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10 am. Burial will follow at 2 pm at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
