Frieda Edinger Obituary
Frieda Edinger, age 87, of Longview, Texas passed away on April 23, 2012 at Beacon Hospice in Longview, Texas.
Frieda Edinger was born on February 21, 1925 in Barlow, North Dakota to George and Katie Pepple into a family with two older sisters Ruth and Aurelia. Later the family grew quickly when twin brothers Percy and Perry were born. She attended grade school in a rural one room school and graduated from high school in Carrington, North Dakota. At age 21, Frieda met and married Ben Edinger who was a member of the Edinger Brothers gospel quartet in 1946 just after WWII. They had twins in 1950 and were married for 63 years. During their many years together Ben and Frieda worked at various businesses including Motel 6, Carrington Hotel, Ben's Barbar Shop, and Lindrud's Dime Store. In 1997 they moved from North Dakota to Texas to be near their children. When Ben passed away in December 2010, Frieda moved to The Willows of Kilgore.
Mrs. Edinger was a resident at The Willows Nursing Home in Kilgore, Texas for 16 months where she enjoyed many friends and often distributed articles in large print explaining how to go to Heaven. She wanted it known that Jesus was the only way to Heaven. She was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and was gifted in sewing, quilting, painting, crocheting, and many other crafts which were displayed at the Willows' art show in 2011. Cooking and homemaking were always part of her life as she hosted meals for family and friends through the years.
Frieda was preceded in death by her husband Ben, sister Ruth, and brothers Percy and Perry Pepple. She is survived by her sister Aurelia Gedrose of Longmont, Colorado, son Jerome Edinger and Donna of Kilgore, Texas and daughter Janell Edwards and Tim of Giddings, Texas. She has three grandchildren – Joshua Edinger and Christina of Longview, Texas; Jennifer Bradford and Christian of Dallas, Texas; James Edwards and Linda of Tyler, Texas. She also adored her four great grandchildren; Natali Edinger, Asher Bradford, Finn Janell Bradford, and baby Edinger due in July. A memorial service is planned in Fort Worth for family and friends at a future date. The family requests that memorials in honor of Frieda Edinger be directed to the Beacon Hospice, 5016 Gilmer Rd, Longview, TX 75604
