Frederick H. Stahl, Sr.'s Obituary
Memorial services for Frederick H. Stahl, Sr. Of Lake Cherokee will be held at noon on Tuesday at Valley View Baptist Church, 1602 Alpine St. In Longview. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Stahl died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday.
Mr. Stahl was born on Aug. 15, 1933 in El Dorado, AR, grew up in New London, TX and moved to Longview in 1956. Frederick proudly served in the US Army, 2nd Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany. He then worked at Texas Eastman for 35 years as a Plant Supervisor. He devoted his life to working with children at Valley View Baptist Church where he was affectionately known as "The Candy Man", Valley View Elementary School, coached Little League Football and Baseball, and was a Cub Scout leader. His greatest role, however, was husband, father and grandfather.
Frederick married the love of his life, Mary "Sissy" Dryden Stahl, on May 12, 1957. They retired to Lake Cherokee in 1985 where he spent his time fishing, hunting and travelling.
Frederick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary "Sissy" Dryden Stahl of Lake Cherokee, TX. His daughters Rebecca "Becky" and CSM Philip Brunwald of Lawton, OK; Elizabeth "Beth" and Mike Yeager of Houston; son Frederick Jr. "Freddy" and Bonnie of Longview. Mr. Stahl's true treasures, however, were his beloved grandchildren Taylor and Hunter Brunwald of Lawton, OK; Baylea Smith of Longview and Will Yeager of Houston.
He is also survived by sisters Hertha Whatley, Jeanette Tommy Kirkindoll and Patsy Ken McGinnis of Longview, brothers Charles Janice Stahl of Bedford and numerous neices and nephews. The family would also like to mention his precious "other mother" Edna McGarity of Pine Bluff, AR.
He is preceded in death by his parents, H.O and Myrtle Elizabeth Stahl; his in-laws Henry "Chick" and Lillie Mae "Gay" Dryden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Gideon Bible Foundation.
