Freddy Wayne Cook's Obituary
Services for Freddy Wayne Cook, 81, of Longview will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Tuesday, October 25 at 2pm. The family would like to invite friends to gather for a time of fellowship an hour prior to the service. Fred, as he liked to be called, went to be with the Lord in the evening of Thursday, October 20, 2016.
Fred was born on September 3, 1935, in Houston TX, to parents, Allyene Fears Cook and W.H. Cook. He graduated from Pasadena High School where he played in the band and was active in the Future Farmers of America. While attending Sam Houston State University, Fred participated in the rodeo program.
A U.S. Army veteran, Fred returned home and became an instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He then moved to Dallas where he served as a tour guide for American Express and taught dance at Southern Methodist University.
Upon returning to Longview, Fred spent time as a salesman for Bottenfield’s Beauty Supply and became an independent contractor. Upon retiring, Fred greatly enjoyed his privacy and long rides through the piney woods of the back roads of East Texas. Although enjoying his privacy, Fred was a caring man, who served as a caregiver for both his mother and his step-father. Fred will be sorely missed by all the family that he loved so well.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, W.H. Cook; his mother, Allyene Fears Davidson; his step-father, Atchley “Pete” Davidson; and his sister, Judy Cook Morris. Those left to cherish their memories of Fred include his daughter, Marisa Cook Hurst of Spring TX; cousin, Virginia Butter Fields; niece Julie Crawford Williamson; and great-niece and nephew Jordan Williamson and Justin Williamson.
Interment will follow at the Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
