Freda Pearl Stevens' Obituary
Freda Stevens, the former Freda Pearl Hynds, of Clute, Texas, succumbed to the long term effects of Alzheimer?s on her 90th birthday, June 25, 2006. One of her great-nieces commented, ?She died on a Sunday?, commenting on her wonderful Christian life.
A celebration of life will be held 2 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Temple Baptist Church in Clute, Texas with Reverend Donald Hintze and Reverend Tom Roberson officiating under the direction of Stroud Funeral Home, Clute, TX. Visitation will precede services at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow at 2 PM Wednesday, June 28, 2006 in Damascus Cemetery near Lindale, TX.
Freda was an employee of Don Chemical, working as an executive secretary until her retirement.
To her family and friends, she was better remembered as a wonderful hostess to church related parties in her home. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed music enough to begin practicing the organ in her retirement; a great homemaker, and friend, she is also well remembered for over 40 years as a Sunday School teacher. She and Johnny Hynds her first husband were mainstays of Temple Baptist Church, Clute.
She was preceded in death by Johnny Hynds, B. C. Stevens, her parents, and one sister, Hazel Sneed of Benton, IL.
She is survived by her younger sister, Annabel Dykstra, who now resides in Longview, TX. She is also survived by five nieces, two nephews and extended family.
