My deepest sympathy on the passing of this wonderful man as you cherish so many good memories. As his neighbor on Hammond Tree in Urbandale, Ia, for a few years I so enjoyed our chats as especially since we were both farm boys. His talents were many and we even had him tune our piano.

A fun Memory of “Mr. Mapes” was taking Craig and I pheasant hunting to a family farm up north and telling me to put my 100 lb German Shorthair Pinter in the trunk for the ride up there! So we did! Lots of great memories in the Mapes house with Lola making pizza for our pool tournaments, being frightened every time Gary ran the ball that he would hurt his fingers so he couldn’t play Clarinet and “Franklin “ being a fun friends Dad and in the next moment a terrific Bad Director!
