Franklin E Warden Barnes
Franklin "Franky" E Warden Barnes, 68, died at his home in Longview, Texas on Thursday, December 15, 2011.
He was born at home in Longview, Texas on May 9, 1943 to his parents Clarence and Ellen Barnes. Franklin attended Longview High School and then joined the Army in 1962. He served in the Army for 3 years at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe S.H.A.P.E. in Paris, France where he was responsible for the transportation and safety of the headquarters commandant, Alfred J. Floyd. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and as a civilian he was employed with Texas Utilities before becoming a deputy with the Gregg County Sheriffs Department.
Franklin is survived by his two sons Jason Barnes and his wife Teresa of Longview and Marty Barnes and his wife Shelia of Gladewater, and his daughter Tiffani Barnes of Longview; two grandchildren: Julie Barnes and Garrett Barnes of Kilgore; his parents Clarence and Ellen Barnes of Longview; his sister Sandra Gibbs of Longview, his Aunt Alice Phillips of Austin and uncle Ray Tucker of Longview; and several nieces and nephews.
Franklin is preceded in death by his grandmother Christine Tucker; his brother David Barnes and sister-in-law Gail Barnes; his nephew Charles Barnes and great nephew Justin Polk.
There will be a graveside service Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00pm at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604.
