The memories of this wonderful father-in-law have come flooding back these last few days--from polka dancing with Joe at Wurstfest when I was only 19 years old, to many wonderful week-ends with Joe and Loretta on Lake Cherokee, to a fantastic and spiritual vacation to Italy in 1980 where Joe's delight in the Genesis-inspired tapestries of the Uffizi Musuem was contagious and to Oberamergau for the passion play, to taking skiing lessons with Joe, both of us for the first time when he was 65 in Colorado, to tales of 'grandparents' trips related by Erika and Daniel each summer, to baptisms, and a special Easter in Chicago and so many more. I wish that your 'hocus pocus' could bring you back now.
Joe's generosity, humor, zest for life, patience, and warmth are not easily found in many. My love and sincerest sympathies to Alan, Erika, and Daniel and to all the Spaeths and relatives in Longview, Lindsay, Muenster and wherever they may be. ##imported-begin##Mary Spaeth##imported-end##
