Marie and Lee were the best friends my parents had. My parents were Ed and Kay Leach They met Lee and Marie through the Longview News where my father also worked. Marie was such a wonderful lady and so much a part of our lives growing up that I named my eldest daughter after her. There are many humorous family stories involving Marie and Lee. They were the central part of my parents circle of friends. My dad always referred to Marie as \\\"Mammy\\\". I do not know why, but she did not seem to object to it!
You could not ask to meet or know a finer or sweeter lady. My condolences to those family members she leaves behind an well as to her friends. I cannot help but believe that she is at peace today with her Lord and with her much loved husband.##imported-begin##Kathleen Leach Kendle##imported-end##

As a nursing facility administrator I grew to love Mrs. Rice. She came into The Willows of Kilgore and was brought into our nursing family with a feeling of joy that we could be her new home and love her like one of our grandmothers or great aunts. Oh, my how many fond memories I have of this wonderful lady! Growing up in Longview, and being a "newsoffice" kid - I had the privilege of Marie and Lee in my life. She was a neat lady. My Dad, Bob Griffis, just loved her to death, well we all did! I said she is in heaven with Dad, Ms. Julia, Deweitt Demaree, and Henry Poppaw Armstrong, and Mr. Estes and all those that passed on before her - wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall and listen to that conversation! Marie was a wonderful influence in my life!
