Frances Holloway Bristow's Obituary
Memorial services for Frances Holloway Bristow will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at Rader Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Thuma officiating.
Mrs. Bristow died October 21, 2002. A fifth generation East Texan, she was born January 11, 1907, the daughter of Walter Carroll Holloway and Sarah Elizabeth Power, Longview, Texas. She was a member of First Christian Church. Her great-grandfather, Rev. James P. Holloway, was founder and first pastor of the church in 1875.
She was a member and past Historian of the R.B. Levy Chapter of Daughters of the Confederacy; organizing member of Gregg County Historical and Genealogical Society, serving as Secretary-Treasurer for twenty-eight years until her retirement. She was Member Emeritus of Gregg County Historical Foundation; life member of Poetry Society of Texas and National Federation of State Poetry Societies. An organizing member of local poetry groups, she was especially active in the promotion of poetry in the schools.
Mrs. Bristow was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Monte Bristow, in 1960.
She is survived by daughter Lisbeth Keith Gordon of Whitesboro, Texas; granddaughter Christi Gordon Rains and husband C.R. Rains of Glen Rose, Texas; grandson Jon Keith Gordon and wife Debra Gordon of Whitesboro, Texas; sister Beth H. Clark, Monroe, Louisiana; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Bristow's remains will be cremated and ashes interred in Grace Hill Cemetery family plot.
