Gussie Frances Thompson was born December 30, 1916, in Longview,
Texas, to James and Lula Campbell. After attending Longview High
School, she graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. She then
worked for Premier Oil Refinery until she met and married Rob Roy
Thompson in 1948. They were married for more than 60 years.
Frances substituted in the Longview schools throughout the years but
was mostly a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, where she was a Circle member. She was
involved in many other church activities. She had a host of friends
and in October, 2010, "The Bridge Club" celebrated playing bridge
together for 72 years. During their retirement years, Frances and Rob
Roy enjoyed living on Lake Cherokee and traveling the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rob Roy Thompson, her
parents, baby daughter Jann, and two brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Lana
and Jim Webb; son and daughter-in-law, Rob Roy Thompson, Jr. and
Rebecca; grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Annemarie Cook,
Rachel and Cory Worthey and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Beacon Hospice for
their assistance, and especially her caregivers, Robin and Brenda.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to First
Presbyterian Church, 301 N. Center St., Longview, TX 75601; the
