Frances Bassett Finklea's Obituary
FRANCES BASSETT FINKLEA went home to be with her LORD on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the age of 87 at Margaret's House in Longview TX. She was born on September 13, 1921 to Tom John and Kate Strong Bassett in Henderson TX. Her early years were spent in Marshall TX. It was in Marshall that she met and married Judge D. Finklea, SR who preceded her in death on August 15, 1978.
From 1959 she lived in Longview TX where she and Judge raised their four children. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School class.
Survivors inclue her four children and their families: Judy Finklea Oliver of Longview TX, Judge D JR and Mindy Finklea of Kilgore TX, Genelle Finklea Wooten and Dave Wooten of Longview TX, and Jan Finklea Blow and Craig Blow of Aubrey TX. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Jackie Oliver Kureska of Kerrville TX, Julie Oliver Weeks and Todd Weeks of White Oak TX, Janet Oliver of Longview, TX, Tommy Finklea of Longview TX, Shelley Finklea Turner and Tim Turner of MT Pleasant TX, Marisa Finklea of Longview TX, Dylan Finklea of NYC NY and Loren Finklea of Austin TX, Robert Watson of Allen TX, Nancy Watson Riley of Four Oaks, NC and Austin Wooten of Longview TX, Katie and Jake Blow of Aubrey TX.
She loved her great grandchildren: Reid, Conner, Kyla, Macy, Katelyn, Austin, Payton, Alyssa, Will, Seth, Kyle, Lane, Kamryn and Zack.
A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 12:00 Noon, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverends David English, Dwayne Beaty and Doug Wintermute officiating. Rader Funeral Home, Longview, in charge of services.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, TX Wednesday, April 8th, 2009, from 6-7:30PM.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to DR Margaret Schottstaedt and her special staff at Beacon Hospice for their loving and compassionate care while at Margaret's House and to Heart to Heart Hospice, Tyler TX and to her friends who have traveled this journey with us. She will be loved, missed and remembered by all who knew her.
