Foster E. Davis' Obituary
Foster E. Davis, 89, of Henderson, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Davis was the son of John Davis and Pearlie Kent Davis and was born April 18, 1919 in Rusk County, Texas. He graduated from Laneville High School and Stephen F. Austin State University and served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Eastex Telephone CO-OP in 1984 after several years of service and continued his interest in raising cattle.
Mr. Davis was very happily married to Irma Brooks Hammett Davis for over 35 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to Irma, he is survived by a son, Aubrey Hammett and wife Tina of Houston; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Stephens of Lufkin; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as Dennis Adams, a life long friend and first cousin.
In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a brother, Fonzo Davis; sisters, Connie Fears and Wincie Sedden,; son-in-law, Charles P. Stephens and two great grandchildren, Colton Rayburn and Zachariah Stephens.
Services will be held at the Rader Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM with interment in the Davis Cemetery. Revs. Bill Kuykendall and Steve Butler will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chad Hammett, Jeff Hammett, Kurt Stephens, Collin Stephens, Russell Davis and Danny Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Edell Husband, Charles Morris, O.D. Fisher, Dennis Adams, D.J. Burks, Cliff Brooks, Jerral Davis, Alan Dorman, Rusty Dorman, Russell Hudson, and Harold Funk.
Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 3 to 5 PM
The family wishes to thank the staff of Henderson Memorial Hospital and The Hospice of East Texas for their kind service to Mr. Davis during his illness and passing
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, Davis Cemetery Association or Hospice of East Texas.
