Fonda Keith McKay's Obituary
Fonda Keith McKay
We celebrate the life of Fonda McKay, loving wife, mother and friend who went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2006. Her life began in Mississippi on June 24, 1942. Born and raised in Mississippi, it was natural for her to attend college and marry there too. She obtained her Elementary Education Degree from Delta State University. Young Fonda then met and married the man of her dreams, Daniel McKay. Together they moved from Mississippi to Louisiana before permanently settling down to raise their son Keith and later their daughter Kellye in Longview, Texas. She devoted her time to teaching the youth for over ten years before she proudly began to devote herself fulltime to the raising of her children. She was there right beside them as they participated in scholastic activities that included football and band. As her children grew and left to attend A&M University, she became an active member of the Mom?s Hometown Club and eagerly assisted in the cultural growth of her children that included trips overseas. As always, no matter how busy, she was a devoted member of Greggton First Baptist Church. Many will remember her at Church Services each week and her smiling face at the Church Dinners. She opened her heart and her home to her children?s friends and later, to her extended family as her children married. Her arms were always open for the student athletes at LeTourneau University and many there considered her to be their mother away from home.
She is survived by her husband Daniel McKay, her son & daughter-in-law, Keith and Gloria McKay and daughter & son-in-law Kellye and Dennis McGregor, one sister Janice Taylor and two brothers Frank and Phillip Keith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The viewing will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Monday, January 09, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m.. The Memorial Service will be held at Greggton First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the Greater Hospice of Texas, 1905 W. Loop 281, Space 81, Longview, Texas 75604.
