Floyd L. Ford's Obituary
Floyd L. Ford, "Pops," 64 of Lake O' the Pines passed away January 4, 2012. He was born April 13, 1947 in Brawley, California. Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Nan Rogers, on October 5, 1968.
Floyd proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was an advocate of veterans' rights. Throughout his life, he continued to support all service men and women. He enjoyed bass fishing and bird hunting with his dog Josey. Floyd enjoyed being with people, and he never met a stranger. He was an RA Director and coached little league football. Working with and encouraging young people was his gift.
He retired in 2011 from Zachry where he worked as pulverizer supervisor at various plants including Welch power plant which was his last. In his retirement you could find him on any lake in his bass boat with his favorite fishing buddies. He was a member of the Tatum Bass Club where he recently won "Angler of the Year."
Floyd is missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Nan; daughters and sons-in-law, Dalyn and Lee Pettit and Amy and Curtis Davison. His granddaughters, Nicki and Chrisney, were the lights of his life, and he was their hero. He is also survived by his mother, Charlene Ford; brother, Jim Ford; mother-in-law, Anna Belle Rogers; brothers-in-law, George and Loren Rogers; nephews, Jace, Logan, Chad and Sean Rogers and Shannon Ford; niece, Sandy Rogers.
Floyd is preceded in passing by his father, Leonard Ford and his father-in-law, James Rogers.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 5-7pm Rader Funeral Home, Longview. A celebration of his life will be at the funeral home Monday January 9, 2012 at 2pm with Bro. Jim Rust officiating.
