Florence Dolores Stirling's Obituary
Florence Dolores “Dee” Stirling passed away on Tuesday January 16th, 2024 at the age of 97. She passed away with Kevin and Meagan by her side at Pine Tree Lodge where she had been receiving loving, kind and compassionate care. The Family will be forever grateful for the care Dee received. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at First Lutheran Church of Longview beginning at 2:00 PM
Dee was born on July 25th, 1926 in Alamosa, Colorado to Axel and Florence Arnell. She had one brother Edward who proceeded her in death.
Dee married Robert Stirling July 1945. Together they had two children Terry and Robert.
During her life Dee took pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her sons.
When her husband passed away in 1979 she moved to Longview, Texas to be close to her son Terry, helping Terry and his wife Mikey take care of their children Zachary and Meagan. Dee also became very involved in First Lutheran Church. She participated in Stew Pot, Meals on Wheels, VBS, Women’s Bible Study, Quilting, FLC became her second home.
Once in Longview she began taking tax classes from H&R Block, she eventually began teaching classes and running an office after receiving her Enrolled IRS Certification. She retired from H&R Block when she 92. She is still remembered quite fondly by her colleagues.
After her retirement, her favorite activities were playing with her dog Toby, and her great-grand dog Mollie Mae. She also enjoyed her bridge clubs, her bi-weekly shopping dates with Jackson and attending church with Jackson. Living next door to her granddaughter Meagan (Kevin, Jackson) provided for easy care, Jackson especially loved home baked cookies at a moments notice.
Dee leaves behind her son Terry (Carrie), son Robert(Peggy), grandchildren, Zachary (Amanda), Meagan (Kevin), Justin, Ian, Sean, and Annie. As well as numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, great grandchildren and friends.
