Florence Mae Alexander Clark's Obituary
Florence Mae Alexander Clark passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was born September 7, 1918 to Robbie Elizabeth and Lawrence Edward Alexander, Sr. in Marlin, Texas. On January 19, 1937 she married the love of her life, Harold George Clark, of Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2005 in Longview, Texas.
Mrs. Clark was the role model for parenthood to her five children. They, along with their children, were both the joy and focus of her life. She was a leader of their Scouting/Camp Fire experiences, served on Waco and Midland PTA City Councils, was the Texas State PTA Historian, and taught Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church in Waco and First Baptist Church in Midland.
Mrs. Clark was the first two-gallon blood donor in McClellan County. In Midland, she enjoyed working with the Women's Auxiliary of Midland Memorial Hospital. She also was active in the Bon Ami Book Club, duplicate bridge and golf. Mrs. Clark was a Registered Parliamentarian, and, in addition to serving in that capacity with many organizations, often taught courses on Parliamentary Procedure. A sixth generation Texan, she was a proud member of the Reuben Hornsby chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Of all of her many accomplishments, she most enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her children, Bob and Jan Clark of Breckenridge, Texas; Harold Bubba and Freida Clark of Sylacauga, Alabama; Cissy and John Ward, Sr. of Longview, Texas; Peggy and Mike Beyer of Porter, Texas; and Virginia Choo Choo Tuttle of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank most loyal friends Nell Lanier and Mabelle Henderson; Summer Meadows care-givers: Susan, Mattie, Angelina, Alecia, Terry, Ramona, and Ruth, and the wonderful staff of Heartsway Hospice who cared for her for the last 5 months.
Graveside services for Mrs. Clark will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Rosewood Cemetery in Longview, Texas with Reverend Harry C. Meisser officiating.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 501 Pine Tree Rd., Ste. U4, Longview, TX 75604.
