F. Harold Mitchell's Obituary
Services for F. Harold Mitchell, Jr., 88, a resident of Longview since 1957, will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Rev. Kevin Wittmayer officiating.  Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado under direction of Horber Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell passed away at his home Sunday night, March 22, 2009.  He was born May 30, 1920 in Commerce, Texas.  At age 5, after his mother's death, he and his father moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was reared and educated.  Mr. Mitchell moved to Longview in 1957 as president of Independent Association of Damage Appraisers IADA and later opened the East Texas Salvage Pool.   He was active in the community and will be remembered as someone who "made a difference".  He served as a Little League Baseball coach and Dale Carnegie instructor and was active in Pee Wee football, Longview Optimist Club, Longview Toastmasters and Longview Exchange Club.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, F. Harold and Ruth Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Kandie Wilson Mitchell; sons, Clark Mitchell and wife, Nikki of Hideaway Lake and Rodney Mitchell of Murray, Utah.  Six grandchildren, Chad Mitchell, Cari Bramlett and husband, Jason, Rodney Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Beau Mitchell and Neal Mitchell, and 6 great grandchildren.  Mr Mitchell was blessed with faithful caregivers, Nancy Berry and Julie Bingham and Heartsway Hospice nurse, Josh Kerns, and caregiver, Denise Matthews whose loving care and kindness will always be remembered.
