Fern Palmer's Obituary
Longview – Fern Adams Palmer, age 93, passed away October 15, 2016, from complications related to a recent stroke. Fern was born April 7, 1923, in Stapp, Oklahoma and moved to Dermott, AR as a child. In 1986 Fern moved to Longview, TX and has since called Longview her home.
Fern was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Longview, TX and loved listening to the church choir. She loved Christian music and remembers many Sunday afternoons of “dinner on the ground & singing”. She was a homemaker, and raised 6 children while working the farm with Vernon.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Lige & Lillie Adams, brothers Parnell Adams, Homer Adams, Glen Adams & Chester Adams (all from Dermott, AR), son Billy Palmer (Longview), grandsons Eric Johnson (Longview) & Scotty Pierson (Whitehall, AR) & her “first love” Vernon Palmer.
She is survived by children Norma Pierson (Don), Jenny Johnson (Chester), Ronny Palmer (Suisan), Reyne Merrell (Rick) & John Palmer (Karen), daughter-in-law Jerri Palmer (Billy), 11 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Special thanks to Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Home, Page Place Apartments, Heart to Heart Hospice and the many friends that visited her and loved her.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM-2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Rader with burial at Rosewood Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Charles Adams & Bro. Kase Kuykendall.
