Felton Wayne Waldrop
Funeral services for Felton Wayne Waldrop, 81, of Longview, will be held at 10 am Friday, September 9, 2005 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Calvin Hancock and Gary Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Waldrop Cemetery in Beckville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the funeral home.
Mr. Waldrop was born on February 21, 1924 in Beckville to Melvin Gray Waldrop and Bonnie Esther Gentry Waldrop. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1941. He served his country with the United States ARMY as a Corporal with the Company C 47th Infantry. While in World War II, Cpl. Waldrop served in Belgium, France, Germany, England, and Luxemburg. For his bravery and service, he was awarded such medals as, the Purple Heart, Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star, as well as three overseas service ribbons.
Mr. Waldrop was a 1948 graduate of LeTourneau University. He worked for Garrett Oil Tools as a Machinist, USI- Axleson as a Purchasing Agent. Before retiring in 1987, Mr. Waldrop had served a total of 38 years. After retirement, Mr. Waldrop spent most of his time on his farm in Panola County. He was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Freddie Waldrop of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Janet Waldrop of Bullard; daughter, Barbara Hargraves of Livingston; grandchildren, Jake Waldrop and his wife Lindsey of Bullard, Scott Hargraves and his wife Julie of Livingston, Jennifer King of Livingston; three great grandchildren; brother, James Waldrop and his wife Joyce of Crockett; sister, Sue Smith and her husband Lamar of Hide Away Lake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
