So sorry to hear of the passing of Felix(Gap) Hammontree. He was a might fine fella and friend. A superb athlete for the Leverett's Chapel Lions back in the day. My heartfelt condolences to his family during this time. May God bless and comfort you all.

Felix invited me to go to the football banquet with him. He was in the seventh grade and I was in the sixth grade. My parents let me go. We double dated with Jimmy Evans and Donnie Sullivan. We were so young and too young to drive a car, of course. Jimmy’s brother, Jack Evans and his beautiful wife, Jean actually drove us. That was my very first “date”! What a great time we had. The banquet was held in the Leverett’s Chapel Cafeteria. I remember exchanging many “glances” with Felix as we passed each other in the halls.
