F.E. Dick Matlock
Funeral services for Mr. F. E. Dick Matlock, 78, of Mt. Enterprise will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Enterprise, with Bro. Darrel Owens and Bro. Cory Page officiating. Burial will follow at Isabell Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Matlock passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at his home, which he and his wife built on the original Matlock family home place.
Dick was born November 8, 1930 in Mt. Enterprise, TX to Thomas A. Matlock and Debbie Walker Matlock. He was the last of nine children to follow them in death. He served in the army during the Korean conflict and participated in the first testing of an atomic warhead "Atomic Annie".
Dick married Lavelle Rousseau, his wife of nearly 54 years, on July 23, 1955. They were surrounded in love, laughter and music. Dick was a loving and devoted husband, Daddy and Pap-paw. He lived his life through his family and had a special way of individualizing a unique relationship with each and every one. He was quick to laugh, eager to forgive and free with praise. He was a faithful member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Dick was employed with Eastex Telephone Cooperative where he retired after 40 years.
He is survived by his wife Lavelle, Daughters and sons-in-law: Deanna and Ricki Keeling, Penny and Jeff Plopper and Jill and Wayne Cooley, all of Mt. Enterprise;
Seven grandchildren & spouses: Allison & Kevin Knox, Adam & Stephanie Page, Kyle & Erin Keeling, Cory & Jessica Page, Craig & Sara Page, Brooke & Patrick Maples, and Caleb Cooley. Three step-grandchildren: Leslie & Chad Moore, Norris & Iva Cooley and Justin Plopper. Great-grands: Emily, Todd, Karson, Tori, Jack, Audrey, Kelsey, Ethan, Caroline, Thad, Gus, Kate, Claire and baby girl Kennedy due in July.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Thomas Kelly, Orvin, Norris, James "Harry" & David "Coot" Matlock. Three sisters: Mable Gray, Lois Sanders and Janet Solomon.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16th at Landmark Baptist Church.
