Evans Franklin Burton's Obituary
Services for Evans Franklin Burton, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28th at Centre Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Woodard officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral home of Longview. Mr. Burton was born March 26, 1922 and passed away Wednesday, January 25th at his home in the Elderville community where he was born, raised and retired. Evans was a lifetime member of the Centre Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for 63 years. Prior to his death, Evans was the oldest living member of Centre Presbyterian Church. Mr. Burton retired from Lebus International after forty years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Ernestine Roy. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Retta Burton, son Woodie Meyers and wife Dolores of Kilgore, Weldon Hopkins and wife Mary of Hallsville, Tommy Hopkins and wife Kay of Hallsville, grandsons Gary Meyers and wife Robbi of Kaufman, Keith Meyers and wife Natalie of Kilgore, Lee Hopkins and wife Sheri of Hallsville, Brian Hopkins and wife Brooke of Hallsville, Chris Hopkins and wife Amy of Longview, and granddaughter Mandy Green and husband Bill of Harleton, and great-grandchildren Justin, Alicia, Jessi, Garrett, James, Layne, Ruger, Judd, Briley, Nathan and Blaire.
Visitation will be Friday, January 27th from 5 - 7 pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Graveside will follow services at Elderville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Hopkins, Brian Hopkins, Chris Hopkins, Bill Green, James Hopkins, Gary Meyers, Keith Meyers, Justin Meyers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Norm Hannigan, L.T. Mobbs, Carl Amick, Lee Scott, David Funderburk and Garrett Meyers, Layne Hopkins, Ruger Green.
Papa Evans was a respected member of his family and community and will be missed by all.
