Eva Smith Young's Obituary
Eva was born, Eva Pearl Smith on July 3rd 1928 to Jodie Jackson Smith and Emma Loma Walker in Longview, Texas. Eva was the youngest of three children; her older brothers were Robert Marshall Smith and Cecil Jackson Smith, both of Longview. Eva married Billy Clyde Young and together they have one son, Tommy Darrel Young. Eva worked for many years at Dunaway's Glass Company in Longview. Eva Smith Young, 82 of Longview passed away Friday November 12th 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospital of natural causes.
She was the sole care provider for her Mother and Father in their elder years. Eva was also the care provider and custodian parent of Marc Stephen Smith.
Eva was the anchor of the Smith family and the glue that bonded the Walker, Smith and Young families together. Eva was a gifted poet, poetry; family and close friends were her passions. She was a selfless person that cared for anyone she met. Eva's strong political and Christian views were her guide in life and she never wavered. She could always be found entertaining nephews, nieces and grandchildren. She would always make time to share her gift of a smile with anyone willing to talk to her. She would offer sage advice and take criticism with a grin.
Eva is survived by her Son; Tommy and his wife DeeDee Young of Longview. Grandchildren; Caleb Young of Longview, Joshua and wife Ashley Young of Lafayette, Louisiana, Great Grand Daughter Ella Grace Young of Lafayette, Louisiana and Rachel Young of Longview.
Graveside services will be held at Four O'clock pm Monday November 15, 2010 at Memory Park Cemetery with Reverend David Reeder officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
