Eugene V. “Gene” Durham
Gene was born March 10, 1926 in Aspermont, Texas to Algie E. Durham and Beulah O. Ellett Durham. He proudly served in the Army Air Force as an MP on Guam from 1944-1946. He lived in Odessa, Texas when he married Catherine Callaway in 1949. Gene spent his life as an automotive mechanic and owned his own business in Odessa. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assoc., enjoyed gunsmithing, reloading his ammunition, and deer hunting.
Gene was preceded by his parents, sisters Doris Nell Durham, Cyrita Jo Durham; great grandson Caden Snowden; brothers-in-law Jim Gipson and Ben White. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Catherine “Cathy” Durham; daughters Linda Durham of Longview, Sandra Snowden and Tim of Buda; sons Eddie Durham and Darrell Durham of Gilmer; grandchildren Micah Snowden and Courtney Snowden of Buda; Steven Durham and Nikki of Longview; 2 great grandchildren Holden Snowden of Buda and Emmi Durham of Longview; sisters Nita Gipson of Buda and Alleen White of Longview; brother Don Durham and Mary Kay of Jerrell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Tommy Dorgan officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
