Ethel Eulene Neeld's Obituary
Ethel Eulene Neeld was born on July 28, 1935 in Paducah, TX to Grady and Alma Short. She grew up and attended school in Seymour, TX. In 1952, she married Hugh Neeld. Their daughter, Carla Sue, was born in Gainesville, TX in 1953. They moved to Tyler, TX in 1957, where she lived for fifty-eight years. Eulene enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and perpetual room-mother to children at Clarkston Elementary School during the 1960s. She also took wonderful care of many beloved dogs throughout her life and was known to the neighborhood kids as “the dog lady.” She enjoyed involvement in many church activities. She worked in retail sales at Mary V’s in Tyler for twenty-five years, a job through which she developed many lasting friendships. In January 2015, Eulene moved to Longview to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She greatly enjoyed reclaiming her status as a stay-at-home-mom. She was a member of Longview Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Eulene was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Alma Short and husband Hugh Neeld. She is survived by her daughter Carla Szafran and son-in-law Paul, a sister, Eva Sue Johnston and husband Glenn and nieces Anita Kay Bolen and Alicia Gail Carter of Kentucky.
