Ethel Ketter Hewell's Obituary
Ethel Ketter Hewell, born March 1, 1956, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to Richard P. and Gaby Gill Ketter, died February 6, 2011.
A graveside service, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home-Longview, will be held at Memory Park cemetery in Longview, Texas on Saturday February
12 at 11 a.m. with Father Gerald Priest of St. Anthony Catholic Church will be officiating.
Ethel graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in Center Valley, Pennsylvania in 1974. She graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania--Wharton School in Philadelphia in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Following graduation, Ethel became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Arthur Young & Company presently Ernst & Young. While working in Dallas, she met her husband, William M. Bill Hewell. They were married in January, 1985. Subsequently, Ethel worked for Price Waterhouse & Company presently Pricewaterhouse-Coopers and for the Wyly family of companies, including Sterling Software and Michaels Stores in Dallas. Ethel was a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Ethel was a founding member and served as President of the Dallas chapter of the Association of Women Executives AWE, was active in Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, and was a school volunteer for many years. Ethel was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in the early 2000's and most recently resided at Silverado Senior Living in Plano. The family wishes to thank Silverado for the excellent care given to Ethel during the past three years. Ethel was preceded in death by her father Richard P. Ketter in 1994. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill and her adoring two children Elizabeth N. Nicki Hewell and William A. Hewell II. She is also survived by her mother, Gaby of Cornwall, Pennsylvania, her two brothers Richard Joseph and Mark Stephen, her sister Stephanie Ann, her cousin Pat Ketter Snyder, and her caring niece Carla Ketter. Other survivors include sister-in-law Sally Hewell Brown and husband Russ of Longview, and brother-in-law Dr. Walter R. Hewell and wife Helen of San Angelo.
