Ethel Branch's Obituary
Ethel Branch, born December 19, 1943, in Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas at age 81, surrounded by her devoted husband Barney and close friends. Ethel lived a vibrant life marked by her love for the beach, real estate, bible study with Sister Payne and her unwavering commitment to Barney.
The youngest of five children born to Dick and Marie Rowland, Ethel grew up in Orlando, fostering a lifelong passion for Florida's coast, where she frequently vacationed with Barney, her sister Bonnie and niece Faye, in Destin. After graduating high school in Orlando, she began her career in mortgage lending before transitioning to a long successful career in real estate, which spanned over 48 years. She worked with Fugitt Realty and Joyce Flanagan Real Estate before joining Lenhart Properties, Inc. (now Coldwell Banker Lenhart Properties, Inc.) in 1995. Over her 30-year tenure there, Ethel was a consistent Top Producer, Diamond Society and Presidents Circle recipient along with a unique Outstanding Performance Award, the only one ever awarded, in recognition of her years as a leader, teacher, mentor, motivator and top producer. Ethel was admired for her intellect, quick wit, and genuine care for her clients, many of whom became lifelong friends. She was a "people person" and was genuinely interested in learning about everyone she met and found great happiness in the time she spent with them. Ethel loved her career, but especially her clients. She mentored countless colleagues, sharing her extensive knowledge with both new and seasoned professionals.
Ethel's passion extended beyond her career. A member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and devoted usher at Trinity Episcopal Church, she found joy in community and service. Her faithfulness and devotion to Barney, whom she married in 1986 never wavered even as her own health declined. He was equally devoted, never leaving her side throughout her final months. Ethel's legacy is one of professional excellence, warmth and deep connections with those she loved and served.
Preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Ethel is survived by Barney; sister-in-law Jo Ann Ford and her children Jill, Gail, and Greg; stepsons Trey Branch, Scott Branch (wife Christy); grandchildren Connor, Carson and Karly; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces Faye, Connie, and many other nieces and nephews in Florida. She is also survived by special friends, of many years Faye O'Berry, Sister Payne, Jan Fox, Stacey and Ruth Ann Linseisen.
A memorial service for Ethel will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 2pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, Texas, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Carroll officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel's memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 906 Padon St. Longview, Texas 75601 or to the East Texas Alzheimer's Alliance, 3122 Nealy Way, Suite 203, Longview, Texas 75605
