Esther Louise Norwood's Obituary
Esther Louise Norwood, 84, of Gilmer Texas was born on March 30, 1933 in Brule, NE to Lillian and Niels Nielson, Jr. and passed away on December 13, 2017 at her residence. A loving wife, incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mom raised the five of us to be true to ourselves, kind to others, self-sufficient, hardworking, honest individuals. Family gatherings are an important part of us and she always made sure we had many of them. She had a passion for garage and estate sales and even made those a family event. At times 10 of us would pile out of cars to find our next treasure. We found this poem that our father wrote and read to her at their 60th anniversary party. This says everything about our mom.
“This is the girl that married me & I’ve spent a lifetime trying to figure out what she ever saw in me. I was 20 & she was 18. She was old enough to marry, I had to get permission from my parents.
This is the girl that became a women & a mother when our 1st born came along & down through the years she gave us 4 more.
This is the mother that gave of her time to our children & helped make them what they are today & still had a little time left for her husband.
This is the lady who stood by my side through thick & thin, good times & bad, we saw it through together.
This is my beloved!”
Mrs. Norwood was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ronald A Norwood, Sr., parents, sisters, Iona Schaeffer and Ilene Wolford, brothers, Aurilius Nielson and Glen Nielson and great grandson, Christopher McBrayer.
