While in High School I started working for Ernie as a Pizza cook at the E. Marshal location (in the early 70's). He "promoted" me to delivering supplies to his 4 locations after school - great job. Every minute we were in the office/warehouse together he would offer business tales, life lessons and mentorship. It has stuck with me all these years and convinced me to never give up pursuing dreams. I left Longview in '74 for a stint in the military, college and then a long career with CIA in Washington. I always had Ernie in the back of my mind pushing me forward! R.I.P. my friend.

Soooo sorry for your loss. He certainly will be missed. We regret that we were not
in Longview to attend the celebration of his life. Just heard today. We have been in
Colorado since the 20th. Will contact you when we return after the 7th of January.

In the summer of 1977, Ernie Stith gave me a job at the East Marshall Avenue Pizza Hut, even though I had zero waitressing experience. It was the best job training possible. I learned so much about making the customers happy, regardless of my opinions or feelings - how challenging the food service industry, and all service jobs, really are. I learned so much that I still tell people that working in food service should be mandatory for at least three months.
Ernie was always encouraging, no matter how many mistakes I made. I learned how to manage people while learning how to manage myself.
As the years have passed, Ernie remained a dear friend. I was shocked that he remembered my name so many years later.
I will always remember Ernie.
