Ernest "Ernie" Lee McGarvey 's Obituary
Ernest Lee McGarvey
Ernest "Ernie" Lee McGarvey, born March 15, 1947 in Warren , Pennsylvania, went to be with
our Lord and Savior early in the morning on January 6, 2017, surrounded by his family and
loved ones. Services are 2 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in the Chapel at Rader Funeral
Home in Longview. Visitation is at 1 p.m. and interment will be Rosewood Cemetery.
Ernie was such a natural in creating laughter with his quick wit, endless jokes and pranks.
He was an avid sportsman; he loved playing golf, hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, riding
four wheelers, camping at various lakes and state parks, and more recently, he enjoyed
riding the trails with Linda in their Can-Am in Colorado and Arkansas. In fact, since retirement
he was up for a spontaneous trip with Linda anytime. During the forty-two years they were
married, Ernie and Linda loved to travel, desiring to see as much of this beautiful country as
possible. Ernie loved spending time with friends and family, whether it was attending
activities nieces and nephews were participating, having a relaxing dinner with friends, or
serving as "BEST" Cheer Dad to many girls throughout the years while Linda was cheerleader
sponsor. He has continued to be a strong influence in their lives today.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents Eunice McGarvey and Arthur McGarvey and
brother, Dan McGarvey. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda McGarvey, brother and
sister-in-law Doug and Sue McGarvey, sister-in-law Peggy McGarvey, brother-in-law
Ronnie Kulak and special nieces and nephews dearly loved by Ernie.
Ernie became ill during their Thanksgiving vacation in Sedona, Arizona. A heartfelt thanks for the
outstanding care to the entire medical staff at the Flagstaff Medical Center. A special thanks
to his nephrologist, Dr. Singh and his team at Willis-Knighton North in Shreveport.
Ernie was very giving and loving to many people and was loved in return by many. We are
heartbroken and will miss him greatly.
