Eric Abel's Obituary
A Celebration for the life of Eric Abel, 21, are scheduled for ten a.m. Saturday at the New Heights Church with Pastor Joe T. Winn officiating. Visitation for Eric will be Friday night from 6-8 at Rader Funeral Home on Judson Rd. in Longview.
Eric passed from his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 23, 2010 following a tragic car accident.
Eric often spoke of what a great life he had and how God blessed him so much. He had so many friends and made each one of them know how very important they were to him. They in turn always knew they could count on Eric for anything.
He was abundantly loved by his parents; Kelly and Sharon Abel and thanked them often for all they did.
His very special love, Alicia Newell and Eric had spent the last two years riding his beloved Yamaha R 1 street bike and playing on beaches in Florida and having fun in Vegas. Most Recently he had bought a Rhino and had spent the last two week-ends "Mudding" with his dad, Alicia and other "Mud" friends. Eric was a motocross racer and one of the best in the U.S. He lived for adventure with his family and friends. Each one of us will miss his spirit of love and concern for others. He was truly "One in a Million."
He was preceded in death by his uncles; Bill McIlwain, Billy Courtney and Bill Abel; grandmother Lois Baker, grandfather Don Abel; and great-grandmothers Lois Irby and Jessie Gunter.
Surviving Eric are his parents Kelly and Sharon Abel of Longview; brother Brent Cochran and wife Leslie of Spring, TX.; brother Ronald Abel and wife Amanda of White Oak; sister Tonya Montgomery of Hallsville; grandparents Mitchel and Pauline Courtney of Tatum; numerous aunts and uncles Karen McIlwain of Tatum, Mike and Tina Courtney of Carthage, Sally Courtney of Beckville, Jimmy and Anita Courtney of Tatum, Joe and Loretta Winn of Georgia and Missy Boggs and Ron Roys of Alexandria, VA., Shane and Ann Beth Abel of Denton, TX; many nieces nephews and cousins.
