Emory C. Camp's Obituary
Celebration of the life of Emory C. Camp, 69, will be at 2:00pm Thursday May 9, 2008 at Meadowbrook Baptist
Church in Rockdale, Texas.
Mr. Camp was born April 8, 1939 in Cameron, Texas to Emory B. and Essie McCall Camp.
He graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron and the University of Texas in 1962. He was licensed to practice law in September 1965 and joined the Camp family law practice in that same year.
Emory and Connie Herbert, his beloved wife of 45 years, were married on Decemeber 28, 1962. Together they raised three children.
In addition to his legal practice, he served on numerous boards of directors including serving as President of Rockdale ISD Board of Education for over
16 years. During this time, he was instrumental in the vision and construction of Rockdale Junior High School. As President and Chairman of the Board Director's of the Rockdale Hospital Authority, he chaired efforts to secure funding to bring Rockdals Richards' Memorial Hospital. For years he remained dedicated in service to the hospital and the medical services it provided to Rockdale residents.
Mr. Camp served on the Board of Directors for both the Rockdale State Bank and Citizens National Bank. He was on the Boards of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Country Club, the Southern Milam County United Way and the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas and Milam County Bar Association. In addition, he was an active member of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire
Department 1965-1975 and was an honorary life member. In 1987, he was honored as Outstanding Citizen by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Kyle McBee of Rockwall, TX.; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Greg Wright of Longview, TX.; son and daughter-in-law, Emory D. and Kristen Camp of Dallas, TX.; Grandchildren Katherine and Payden McBee, Jordan and Meredith Wright, Emory E.; Ashley and Kaitlin Camp; sister Kay Johnston of Knoxville, TN and brother, James Camp of Cameron, TX.
The family will accept visitors Wednesday, May 7th from 6-8pm at Phillips and Lucky Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas,
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library.
