Emogene Lyons' Obituary
Emogene Lyons, age 101, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, with her family surrounding her.
Born on September 12, 1924, in Saratoga, Arkansas, Emogene lived a long and beautiful life marked by joy, faith, and an unmistakable sense of humor. She was known for her quick wit, her love of games, and her strong competitive spirit. She loved to win, and she usually did.
Emogene was a devout Christian who accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 13, a faith that remained the cornerstone of her life. Her steady belief, quiet strength, and enduring grace were an example to all who knew her.
She married the love of her life, Lee Lyons Jr., on June 18, 1942. They were blessed with three children and shared 50 years of marriage.
Emogene’s greatest joy and primary focus in life was caring for her children and grandchildren. She later served as a teacher’s aide at Hallsville ISD. She was a faithful member of Hallsville First Assembly of God, where she served as an elder and faithfully held many roles throughout the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Hoffpauir, and son-in-law, Gordon Hoffpauir, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Lyons Jr.; her son, Leroy Lyons; her daughter, Carolyn Bullock; her granddaughter, Deanie Ridgeway; and her great-grandson, Jace Adkinson.
Emogene will be remembered for her laughter, her love of family, and the countless memories created around card tables, board games, and family gatherings. Her life was a blessing, and her legacy of faith and joy will live on in those who loved her.
Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, with services beginning at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas, to help send children to church camp.
