Emmett William "Bill" Muenker Jr's Obituary
Services for Emmett W. (Bill) Muenker will be on Tuesday, April 3 at 10:00 at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview, TX. There will be a visitation opportunity on April 2 at the Rader Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00. A graveside service will be in Lovelady, TX on the afternoon of April 3. Also, there will be a Memorial Service in Edmond, Oklahoma at 10:00 on April 7 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church.
Bill was born in Yoakum, TX. February 1, 1937 to Margaret and Emmett Muenker and entered the glory of Jesus on March 29, 2018. He was 81 years old when he died in Longview, TX. Bill graduated from Lovelady High School in 1955 and continued his education at Texas A&M as a member of the Corp and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He entered the U.S. Air Force in September, 1959. He became an accomplished pilot and flew all over the world piloting the C-124 Globe master. Through the Air Force, he attended the University of Oklahoma earning his Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. While attending the University of Oklahoma, Bill attended a Single Adult Weekend at Glorieta , New Mexico and met Jodi Wagner –whom he married seven months later. He served one year in the Vietnam conflict flying the C-123 spraying the jungle with Agent Orange. In his last 10 years in USAF he served at Loring AFB in Maine, Bolling AFB in the District of Columbia, the Pentagon, and Andrews AFB in Virginia. He retired from the Air Force after 21 years as a Lt. Colonel. During his 21 years he was awarded two Air Medals, the Legion of Merit medal, and two Distinguished Flying Cross medals. He continued using his engineering skills working for Tech Rad Services in Oklahoma City, Asbestos Analytics, and retired in 2016 from Enercon Services. After retirement, he and Jodi moved to Longview to be close to family. Wherever Bill worked he earned the reputation of working diligently, caring for the other employees, and always seeking excellence in whatever he did.
The most important event in Bill’s life occurred when he was around 12 yrs old when he clearly heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and surrendered his life to his Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill loved serving Jesus and did so with enthusiasm and joy. He served as a Sunday School teacher of 8th grade boys, a Deacon, an Elder, a BSF group leader for 25 years, Adult Sunday school leader, greeter, a faithful choir member and was always available for almost any project at any time. He leaves a legacy of a life well lived for the glory of God.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi, of 51 years. His children James Muenker and wife Sonya of Dallas; Chris Muenker and wife, Melisa of Oklahoma City; Jenni Martin and husband Aaron of Longview. Bill loved being “Bo” to his grandchildren, Hunter Martin, Brock Martin, Davin Martin, Anna Martin, Max Muenker, Elle Muenker, Oliver Muenker, Collier Muenker and CJ Snider. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Maxwell of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.
