Elvie Ann Tesch Detmore
Funeral services for Elvie Ann Tesch Detmore, 88, of Brenham, formerly a longtime resident of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer and Verger John C. Murphy officiating. Entombment will be in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. She passed away May 2, at Kruse Memorial Village Nursing Home in Brenham, TX after suffering a severe stroke in April.
Mrs. Detmore, also a recent resident Houston, was born in Oakland, Texas on January 3, 1919 to Albert Gus and Annie Louise Tesch. Elvie attended school in Oakland, Sublime and Schulenberg and attended business school in Houston. She married Glenn Arly Detmore on March 20, 1947 and they were married 56 years before his death in December 2003. She and her husband Glenn, both excellent golfers enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Maxine Louise Wilson and husband Richard of Houston; step-sister Marguerite Hutchins of Brazoria, TX; 2 half-brothers, A. G. Tesch and wife Dorothy of Kenney, TX and Alton Tesch and wife Marilyn of Abita Springs, LA; 2 half-sisters, Doris Mays and husband Bill of Brenham and Barbara Dobson and husband Al of Richmond, TX; step-daughters, Deanna Avant and husband Dale of Oakdale, CA and Carolyn Larson and husband Al of Midland, TX; 2 grandsons David and Jeffrey and granddaughter Denise; great granddaughter, Brianne and great grandson Joe; 2 great great granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
