Ruth Schaffer Morton
Funeral services for Ruth Schaffer Morton, 91, a lifetime resident of Gregg County, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2005, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Mrs. Morton?s great grandson, Chas Carlisle will officiate. Burial will be in LaGrone Chapel Cemetery. She went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 19, in Longview.
Mrs. Morton was born September 30, 1914 in Gregg County to G. W. and Sarah Emmaline Jackson Schaffer. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a former hairdresser and former owner/operator of Price?s Photography Studio. As a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 610, Longview, she served as Worthy Matron in 1990. Also, for years she spent numerous hours volunteering as a ?Pink Lady? at Good Shepherd Medical Center, and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Longview.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Van Price and her husband of 56 years, Wilson Morton; daughter, Betty Price Knight and infant daughter, Elizabeth Price; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Clarence Blakeley of Hallsville, Sherry and Bob Findley of Marshall; and Eugene Knight of Hallsville; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
