Elmer Richard Phillips' Obituary
Funeral services for Elmer Richard Phillips, 76, of Longview, will be 4 PM Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Clayton officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Mausoleum. Rader Funeral Home of Longview in charge of services.
Mr. Phillips died Monday.
A native of Orangefield, Texas, He was born February 8, 1926 and had resided in Gregg County all of his life. Mr. Phillips graduated from Spring Hill School in 1945 and was an avid sports fan, supporting the Spring Hill Athletic Program faithfully. He was the encouragement to hundreds of athletes of Spring Hill School. He faithfully attended all athletic events for over 50 years.
Mr. Phillips was a former employee of LeTourneau and USI Axelson. In 1974 he founded Ark-La-Tex Heat Treating, Inc and retired after 23 years.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church for 20 years. Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class: Mitchell Billingsley, Charles Bowden, Charles Cain, J. B. Kattes, Jerry R. Lansford and Guy Pritchett.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geneva Phillps; daughters and sons-in-law: Shirley and Ned Conner of South Lake, Texas and Beverly and Steve Smith of Rowlett, Texas; Sisters: Fannie Blalack and Mary Wiess, both of Longview; Brother: Billy Phillips of Longview; Grandchildren: Jason and Heather Conner of South Lake, Cory Conner of Fort Worth, Tiffany Clark of Rowlett, Ricky Morgan of Richardson, Tina Lee of Longview; Great Grandchildren: Cathryn Lee of Longview and Jayden Narvaez of Rowlett; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
