Elmer Jay Blackman's Obituary
Funeral services for Elmer Jay Blackman, 94, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Thursday, November 19, 2009 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will follow in Noonday Cemetery in Hallsville. Mr. Blackman passed away Monday morning at his home. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Elmer was born on November 8, 1915 in Atlanta, Texas to Charlie and Lila Blackman. He worked for American Oil Company for 39 years. Mr. Blackman was also a long time member of Mobberly Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ida Jewel Blackman; his son, Billy Joe Blackman; daughter, Peggy Jewel Blackman; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jim Blackman; son, Marion Roy Blackman; daughter, Judy Lynn Baker; step-daughter, Jennifer Schrock; step-sons, Jerry Watson and Johnny Watson; 3 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
