Graveside services for Ellen C. Sonnier, 68, of Longview will be held at Two O'clock pm Tuesday April 14, 2009 Rosewood Park Cemetery with Reverend David Badders and Reverend Jim Crump officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Sonnier passed away Thursday April 9, 2009 in Longview after a six year battle with Breast Cancer.
She was born February 20, 1941 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania to William and Hazel Stein Fusselman, She graduated from Cristobal High School in the Panama Canal Zone in 1958. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mary Hardin Baylor University in 1963, Master of Education in Secondary Education Degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 1986. She moved to Longview in October 1964 with her husband David.
She taught English and Spanish at Longview High School from 1965 to 1972.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David Sonnier of Longview, daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Gene Freeman, Jr. of Longview, four grandchildren, Trey, Samantha, Joe, and Bill Freeman, one brother, William Fusselman, Jr. of San Diego, California.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday April 13, 2009 from 6-8pm

The family would like to thank the following for their care and love during Ellen's illness, Ilene Rice, Brenda Jeffery, Dr. Larry Frase and Dr. Bill Taylor and the staff at Longview Cancer Center.
