Ellen Hunter Beard's Obituary
Services for Ellen Beard will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 2pm with Bro. Gary Orr officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8pm at the Funeral Home. Ellen went to be with the Lord in the late morning of Friday, July 29, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Ellen was born on July 4, 1920 in Anacoco LA to parents William and Delila Hunter. Following High School, Ellen moved to Longview and married the love of her life, Robert “Curly” Beard in 1937. Ellen served as a beautician for many years but her true love was for Christ. She served as a Sunday School teacher in Trinity Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert “Curly” Beard; her son Jerry Beard; Daughters Tenna Kathleen, and Mary Inez Beard; Grandchildren, Kelly Dorene, and James Wesley Descant; as well as 12 Brothers and Sisters. Those that survive to cherish their memories of Ellen include 6 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; 27 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Great-Grandchild; she is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
