Elizabeth Lee Martin Dunaway Boone's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Lee Martin Dunaway Boone, age 85, passed away peacefully at home in Longview with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 2, 1926, in Lanexa, VA, to Malcolm M. and Ruth E. Hall Martin. When she was 9 the family moved to Longview where she attended local schools and later attended Texas State College for Women, now, Texas Women's University. Betty moved to the Houston and lived there for 30 years before moving back to Longview in 1994. She had a 37 year career with Mary Kay that started on April 1, 1974, then two years later she was promoted to Independent Senior Sales Director. She was a member of D.A.R. and the Order of St. Luke's.
Betty is survived by her children, Robert Dunaway and his wife, Susan; Carol Guess; Jim Dunaway and wife, Donna; John M. Dunaway; step-son, Mike Boone and his wife, Elaine; and father of her children, John R. Dunaway; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children; sisters, Pat Ann Martin Taylor, Mary Evelyn Martin Mitchell and husband, Zack; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Ted Boone; parents, Malcolm M. Martin and Ruth E. Hall; step-son, Ted Boone, Jr., granddaughter, Karen Guess and son-in-law, Bobby Guess.
There will be a time of visitation Monday evening, December 19, 2011 from 5pm-8pm at Rader Funeral Home, Longview. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at St. Michael & All Angels' Episcopal Church, Longview at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart's Way Hospice, St. Michael & All Angels' Episcopal Church or Mary Kay Charitable Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
