Elizabeth "Liz" Forcher's Obituary
Elizabeth (Liz) Stone Stokes Forcher of Longview went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the age of 85 in her home in Longview, Texas.
She was born at home in Longview, Texas on February 25, 1933 to the late E.E. Stone and Blanche Mattox Stone. She attended school at Judson Grove-Judson High School graduating in 1950 and was involved in many activities. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Judson. Liz will be remembered for cooking for her family and friends, being involved with her church, traveling and pulling pranks. She had a love for antiques and enjoyed craft making but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Liz is survived by son Larry Stokes and wife Gayla of Longview, Texas, son Derrell Stokes and wife Kim of Lenoir, North Carolina, Stepson Jerry Forcher II and wife Jacqueline of Irving, Texas, stepdaughter September (Dee Dee) Whisenant and husband Billy of Sweetwater, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Shane Stokes and wife Janiece of Longview, Texas, Christy Bell and husband Adam of Longview, Texas, Tyler Stokes of Lenoir, North Carolina, Trisha Stokes of Texarkana, step grandson Ian Forcher, step grandsons William Whisenant and Nathan Whisenant. Great grandchildren Colby and Claire Stokes of Longview, Texas. Brother Harold Wayne Stone and wife Susie of Longview, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Liz was preceded in death by husbands Bill Stokes and Jerry Forcher, son Ronald Stokes, sister Nellie Boyd, brother Gerald Stone, brother Eugene Stone and brother Robert Stone.
Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. Services are to be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Judson 2038 F.M. 1844 Longview, Texas with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Pallbearers are Shane Stokes, Colby Stokes, Adam Bell, Josh Young, Tyler Stokes and Jason Stone. We would like to thank her caregivers Melba Moore and Idalia Venzor for their compassionate care. Paula Botkin her hair stylist for many years. Christus Good Shepherd Hospital, Christus Good Shepherd Home Care, Heart’s Way Hospice, Treviso Transitional Care Rehab and all the members of her church especially Pastor Tim Smith. Memorials or donations may be made to Heart’s Way Hospice of Northeast Texas.
