Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Boyd's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Boyd entered into her eternal rest following a long and brave battle with Parkinson’s disease on January 11, 2024. She was born November 18, 1932 to Walter Matthew “Guy” Galik and Elizabeth Wuchko Galik in Marshall, TX. There she would meet Charles Joseph “Joe” Boyd. Joe and Betty were wed on October 25, 1953. They would have two sons Charles Bruce “Chuck” Boyd and John Michael “Mike” Boyd. Together they moved to Longview, TX in 1969 where Betty would become a pioneer for business women and open Boyd’s Travel Agency. Her grit and determination that was self-evident from her youth would serve her well as she flourished during that period in all areas of life. It was that same grit that allowed her to wage an inspiring twenty seven year war against her body. She possessed a razor-sharp mind and memory until her death. Betty was preceded in death by her father Guy, mother Liz, husband Joe, brother Kenneth Galick and brother Johnny Galik. She is survived by her son Chuck and wife Elaine as well as son Mike and wife Van de’ Lee. Additionally, she is survived by her five grandchildren and spouses: Brent and Whitney Boyd, Brandon and Melody Boyd, Micah and Chris Hernandez, Kylie and Josh Burleson, and Scott Boyd. She also left behind her great grandchildren: Audrey, Colton, Townsend, Colt, Berkley, Vance, Preslee, Addison, and Alexandria.
A family graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:30am at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
The family would also like to thank LaQuita Horton for her resilient care and enduring love for Betty.
