Elizabeth Ann Childress' Obituary
Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann "Ebby" Childress, 61, of Longview, will be 2 PM Friday, August 10, 2012, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Gregg Zachary officiating. Private interment will follow services. The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 9, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Ebby went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 6th at Beacon Hospice Margaret's House after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Ebby was born April 23, 1951 in Center, Texas to Oscar L and Opal B. Shillings. She was a certified legal assistant having worked in several law offices and at LeTourneau University. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Mobberly Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ebby graduated from LeTourneau University where she received her BA degree.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Gene Childress, father, Oscar L. Shillings, sister, Betty Ezell, sister in law, Peggy Shillings and brother in law, Leonard Breckenridge. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Wade Childress and wife Carley of Longview, mother, Opal Bernice Shillings of Longview, sister, Nelda Breckenridge of Jefferson, TX, brothers, Danny Shillings and wife Carla of Longview and Jimmy Shillings of Longview and a brother in law, Bob Ezell of Balch Springs, TX and many nieces and nephews. Ebby dearly loved her family and will be deeply missed by them.
A special recognition is given to MD Anderson Cancer Center and the care given by Dr. Larry Frase and Texas Oncology for the past 5 years. Recently, Beacon Hospice gently guided her and her family through her last days.
