Funeral services for Eldridge E. ?Strick? Strickland, 81 of Hallsville will be held at Ten O?clock AM Wednesday March 1, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Hallsville with Reverend David Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the Hallsville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Strickland passed away Sunday February 26, 2006 in Hallsville.
He was born November 26, 1924 in Rusk, Texas to Judge and Minnie Strickland. He had resided in Hallsville since 1961, moving there from Longview. He was a retired tool and die maker for LeTourneau Manufacturing plant having worked there for 38 years. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hallsville. He served our country during World War II in the U. S. Navy. He was also known by other names such as, Paw Paw, story-teller, fisherman and Mr. Fix it.
On December 21, 1946 he married Mary Ellen McLain and she survives him. Other survivors include two daughters, Doris Lawrence of Austin, TX.; Phyllis Jones of Hallsville, TX.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Strickland of Hallsville, TX.; three sisters, Francis Berry of Porter, TX.; Joy Landrum of Missouri City, TX.; Omie Cooper of Alto, TX.; one brother, Charles Strickland of Pearland, TX.; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Verna Mauldin, sister, Louvella Gale, brother, LeRoy Strickland.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday February 28, 2006 from 4pm until 6 pm.
