Elaine Sue Brown Brevard
Elaine Sue Brown Brevard passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at her home in Longview, Texas. She was born June 5, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Leo and Lois Long Brown. She attended school in Pine Tree ISD and graduated in 1956 as the class salutatorian. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from East Texas State University in Commerce. In 1957, Elaine married Herbert Herb Brevard of Beckville, Panola County, Texas. She later taught in the McLeod and Waskom school districts. She owned and operated Crackajack Engravers for a number of years in Longview. Elaine and her husband were avid square dancers. They were organizers of the Sunsetters Square Dance Club in Longview and served as the club's first president.
Elaine and herb raised their three children, Brent Lavne Brevard, Dr. Eric Lorne Brevard, and Stephanie Lynne Brevard Leuschner, in Longview. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lois Brown, her brother, Wayne Brown, and her son, Dr. Eric Brevard. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Herb Brevard, Son, Brent Brevard, and daughter, Stephanie Brevard Leuschner, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Cremation is under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be held at the funeral home located at 1617 Judson Rd., Longview from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14. Burial will be in Langley Cemetery at Beckville, Texas, on Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Langley Cemetery Endowment Fund; c/o Emma Blakeman, 151 Hull Road, Carthage, TX 75633.
