Edythe McCarty McCormack's Obituary
Edythe McCarty McCormack, 81, of Longview, Texas went to join her loved ones in Heaven. She passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at home. Graveside services, arranged by Rader Funeral Home, will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Rosewood Park in Longview with Ron Peacock of Northwood Church officiating. She was born in Wills Point, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Bertha McCarty, her brother Bobby McCarty, her brother-in-law Jimmy Collins of Dallas, her precious granddaughter Shelby Sullivan and son-in-law Robert Sullivan III of Longview, and her son-in-law Joe Mac Keeling of Burleson, Texas.
Her family was her greatest joy in life. She is survived by her devoted husband George McCormack; 3 sisters, May Dean Collins, Nay Dean McCarty of Dallas, and Bernice Parr and husband Lloyd of Aransas Pass, Texas; daughters Virginia Keeling of Burleson and Vicki Sullivan of Longview, and her son Thomas C. Fugate, Sr. and daughter-in-law Joan Fugate of San Antonio, Texas. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren: Cherie Fugate of Austin, Thomas C. Fugate, Jr. and his wife Stacey Fugate of Hutto, Sam Fugate of San Antonio, and Chelsea Guthrie of Longview; 4 great-grandchildren: Jaida and Joel Ramirez of Longview and Thomas C. Fugate III and Luke Fugate of Hutto.
She was very active in numerous Longview community, school, and church activities, political campaigns, and organizations over the years until her health declined. The family expresses gratitude to Texas Home Health Hospice of Longview for their care, kindness, and compassion especially Dr. Srinivis Rangu, Sheila McFadden, Michelle Henry, Marilyn Strange, Chaplain David Reeder, Shonna Vance, Trisha Tidmore, and Barbara Rodgers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Texas Home Health Hospice of Longview, the Arthritis Foundation, or Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
