Edyra "Jean" Hillin's Obituary
Graveside services for Edyra “Jean” Hillin, 95, of Longview, Texas will be held at 2:00pm, March 18, 2024, at Gum Springs Cemetery, with the Pastor Ted White officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Mrs. Hillin passed away March 11, 2024.
Mrs. Jean Hillin was born October 10, 1928, in Beckville, Texas to John Wes and Purnie Stone Deaton. Jean married Earnest Albert “Pete” Hillin, and together they shared 67 years of marriage until his death January 3, 2011.
Jean helped her husband run their business doing book work for Equipment Sales and Service of Longview until Pete’s retirement. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, watching the many activities her family was involved in, and watching golf.
Pete and Jean traveled in their travel camper to many destinations with their friendship group where her love of games and dominoes came about. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church. She was loved by all her great-grandchildren, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Mrs. Hillin was preceded in death by siblings Joe Stone Deaton, Edward Deaton, Louise Wills, Preston Deaton, Charles Deaton, Jim Ben Hoffman, Margaret Oden, James, Deaton, and Van Deaton. Also, her husband Earnest “Pete” Hillin, and son, Dennis Lee Hillin.
She is survived by her daughter, Alvie “Jean” Pliler and son-in-law, Otis Pliler of Longview; granddaughter Deanna Pliler Kalmus and husband, Michael Kalmus; grandson, Darby Pliler; five great-grandchildren, Colton Kalmus and fiancé Fayth Brinkman, Gracyn Bailey and husband, Logan Bailey, Kamryn Pliler, Kaylyn Pliler, and Karsyn Pliler; and 1 great great-granddaughter, Laikyn Bailey.
